Safety & Quality Concerns We Address
We understand the critical challenges project managers face when sourcing tempered glass. Here's how we help you avoid costly mistakes and delays.
Spontaneous Glass Breakage
Tempered glass can shatter unexpectedly years after installation due to nickel sulfide inclusions, creating safety hazards and expensive replacement costs.
Dimension & Cutout Errors
Incorrect hole positions, edge notches, or dimensional inaccuracies make glass unusable. Tempered glass cannot be modified after processing.
Inconsistent Quality Batches
Variations in tempering stress, flatness, or optical clarity between batches cause visible differences and performance issues on the same project.
Delivery Delays
Late glass delivery halts entire construction schedules. When tempered glass arrives late, facade installation, fit-out, and handover are all impacted.
Transit Breakage
Poor packaging or handling during shipping leads to cracked or shattered glass on arrival, requiring insurance claims and replacement orders.
Communication Gaps
Slow response times, unclear technical specifications, and issues with drawing confirmation create misunderstandings that lead to production errors.
Let us show you how we eliminate these risks from your glass procurement process.

Our Tempered Glass Manufacturing Process
Every piece of tempered glass passes through our rigorous 8-step production process, with quality checkpoints at each stage ensuring consistent results.
CNC Cutting
Automated cutting machines slice raw glass sheets to precise dimensions using your approved drawings. Tolerances are maintained within ±1mm for standard cuts.
Edge Grinding & Polishing
Four-edge automatic grinding machines process edges to your specified profile—flat polish, pencil, bevel, or seamed—ensuring safe handling and aesthetic finish.
Drilling & Cutouts
CNC drilling creates precise holes for hardware mounting. Notches and cutouts are machined according to your drawings before tempering locks in the final shape.
Washing & Inspection
Multi-stage washing removes all contaminants before heating. Visual inspection identifies any surface defects, chips, or scratches that could affect final quality.
Tempering
Glass enters our Tamglass convection furnace at 650-700°C, then rapid air quenching creates the compression surface layer that provides 3-5x strength improvement.
Heat Soak Test (Optional)
For safety-critical applications, glass undergoes BS EN14179-1:2005 compliant heat soaking at 290°C to eliminate potential NiS inclusions before installation.
Final QC Inspection
Each piece is checked against order specifications, fragmentation tested on samples, and surface stress verified using polarized light inspection equipment.
Packaging & Shipping
Export-grade wooden crates with interleaving paper and corner protection secure your glass for safe transit. Full documentation accompanies each shipment.

Defect Prevention & Quality Control
Understanding common tempered glass issues and how our rigorous QC protocols prevent them from reaching your project site.
Common Faults
Wavy surface patterns visible in reflected light, caused by glass sagging between furnace rollers during heating. More noticeable on thin glass and large panels.
Handling damage, roller contamination, or debris in the furnace leaves permanent marks that cannot be removed after tempering.
Improper cutting or grinding creates stress concentrators that can lead to breakage during tempering or after installation.
Rainbow-like patterns from uneven cooling, particularly visible at certain angles. More common with aggressive quenching or equipment issues.
Nickel sulfide inclusions can cause delayed breakage months or years after installation, especially in tension zone locations.
Our Prevention Measures
Tamglass convection technology with oscillating heating provides superior temperature uniformity, minimizing roller wave and optical distortion.
Automated washing lines with filtered water, followed by visual inspection under controlled lighting to catch surface defects before heating.
CNC grinding with proper feed rates and coolant flow, plus 100% edge inspection under magnification before tempering.
Thickness-specific quench recipes with balanced air pressure distribution, regularly calibrated and validated with stress measurements.
BS EN14179-1:2005 compliant heat soak process at 290°C eliminates glass with NiS inclusions before shipment for safety-critical applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our tempered glass products, ordering process, and technical specifications.
Our oversize tempering furnace can process glass up to 3300mm × 6000mm (approximately 10.8ft × 19.7ft). For thickness, we can temper glass from 3mm to 19mm. Larger sizes or curved glass may have specific requirements—contact our engineering team for detailed feasibility assessment.
No, tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled, or edge-modified after the tempering process. Any attempt to do so will cause the glass to shatter completely. All cutting, drilling, notching, and edge processing must be completed before tempering. This is why accurate drawings are essential before production begins.
Tempered glass has higher surface compression (≥95 MPa) and breaks into small, relatively harmless fragments. Heat-strengthened glass has lower compression (24-69 MPa) and breaks into larger pieces similar to annealed glass. Tempered is required for safety glazing; heat-strengthened is often used in laminated assemblies where the glass needs to stay in place if broken.
Heat soak testing is recommended for safety-critical applications where spontaneous breakage could cause injury or significant property damage. This includes high-rise curtain walls, overhead glazing, glass balustrades, public buildings, and any application where replacement would be extremely difficult or expensive. The HST process significantly reduces the risk of NiS-related spontaneous breakage.
For accurate pricing, please provide: glass dimensions (length × width × thickness), quantity, edge processing type (flat polish, pencil, bevel), any holes or cutouts with positions, glass type (clear, low-iron, tinted), whether HST is required, and your delivery location. CAD drawings with detailed specifications ensure the most accurate quote.
Yes, we strongly encourage sample production for new specifications or large projects. Sample lead time is typically 5-7 days. Sample costs depend on complexity and may be refundable against bulk orders. Samples allow you to verify dimensions, edge quality, optical properties, and compatibility with your hardware before committing to full production.
We use export-grade wooden crates with steel banding. Glass is packed vertically with interleaving paper between each piece and foam corner protection. Crates are designed for forklift handling and include proper labeling with handling instructions. For large or heavy panels, we use A-frame steel racks. All shipments include full cargo insurance coverage.
Transit damage is covered by cargo insurance—document any damage upon receipt with photos. For manufacturing defects discovered during installation, we offer replacement at no charge. Our tempered glass carries a quality warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. HST glass has additional coverage for spontaneous breakage. Detailed warranty terms are provided with each order confirmation.
